Safeguarding. Inclusion and Welfare

At St John’s C. E Primary School, the health, safety and well-being of every child is of the highest priority. This school believes that it is always unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind and therefore, all staff, governors and volunteers share in a strong commitment to safeguarding our pupils, recognising that it is our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children in our care.

All school staff are trained in Child Protection and receive regular ongoing safeguarding training. We provide a nurturing and safe environment where children can safely talk to a member of staff if they have any concerns with the reassurance that they will always be listened to and taken seriously.

The school has a duty of care and the right to take reasonable action to ensure the welfare and safety of its pupils. If a member of staff has cause to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or any other form of abuse, the school will follow child protection procedures and inform Children’s Services of its concern.

Therefore, at times we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such actions would be contrary to the child's welfare.

Disclosure & Barring Checks

St John’s C of E Primary School Academy meets statutory requirements in relation to Disclosure & Barring Service. All staff and volunteers who work at St John’s C of E Primary School Academy are required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to employment.

A clear policy on Safeguarding is available below and is reviewed by staff and school governors on an annual basis.
