Welcome to Year 1
The children in Year 1 will be taught in two classes:
1WT – Miss White (Monday, Tuesday & Friday) and Mrs Thomas (Wednesday & Thursday) supported by Mrs Gregory and Mrs Dicks
1DB – Mrs Brothers supported by Miss Langston and Mrs Whitehouse.
As they move into Year 1, children are supported and encouraged to continue to develop their independence. Although our learning is less play based in Year 1, we aim to extend children’s growing knowledge through a variety of exciting learning opportunities.
Please support your child in developing their independence by encouraging them to remember their own reading folder each day. Class reading books are changed each Tuesday and Phonics reading books are changed each Friday.
Our well-being day is on Tuesday each week. Children will need to come to school in their PE uniform (plain coloured house t-shirt, plain navy/black shorts or tracksuit bottoms, school jumper/cardigan or plain navy/black hoodie, pumps or trainers). Please remember that earrings should be removed or covered before school on well-being days. Children will also need to bring in appropriate clothing for Forest School; long sleeved top, long trousers, wellington boots, coat. These clothes will get muddy so please make sure you don’t send in best clothes.
We use class dojo to share useful updates with you and you can also see how many points your child has earned in class. Make sure to register by contacting your child’s class teacher.
Staff are always on hand at the beginning and the end of the day if you need to speak to someone about your child or you can message us via class dojo..
